As a contemplative-eremitical community, we celebrate the mystery of the
Word-Made-Flesh predominantly in a spirit of silence and solitude. Jesus entered the world
at a specific time and into a particular culture, but the Christ of faith
transcends time and culture, becoming incarnate in every culture in
each generation. The Core Community and the guests of the House of Prayer come
from many countries and backgrounds.
In order to provide a prayerful ambiance befitting the season, different crèches representing various cultures are situated at the following locations: As a sign of the interconnectedness of all creation and God's incarnate love for the whole cosmos, we have enhanced most of the nativity scenes with dried materials (leaves, flowers, grasses, etc.) from the landscape surrounding the House of Prayer.
